Before and After Photos of Mommy Makeover

A “Mommy Makeover” is a combination of plastic surgery procedures that address changes in a woman’s body after pregnancy. Mommy makeover can treat cosmetic concerns such as loose skin, stretch marks and excess fat of the abdomen as well as saggy/deflated breasts. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to a mommy makeover — if you decide to have one, your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific body and desired outcomes. If you’d like to restore your pre-pregnancy figure, consider talking to Montreal plastic surgeon Arie Benchetrit for more information.

The Consultation

Dr. Benchetrit uses the consultation as an opportunity to learn more about your goals and to educate you about “mommy makeover” options. He will ask you to identify what you don’t like about your physique and describe your ideal outcome. You will also discuss your medical history and general health with Dr. Benchetrit. He will examine your breasts, abdomen and any other body areas that you are unhappy with.

Dr. Benchetrit will then begin to lay out a treatment plan based on what you’ve talked about. He will suggest procedures to treat your “problem areas.” Dr. Benchetrit and our team will explain what you can expect from the mommy makeover experience, how to prepare for surgery, what your recovery will be like and other important information. Dr. Benchetrit will also show you “mommy makeover before and after” photos of previous patients on whom he has performed the same procedures so you can have an idea of what to expect. It is our goal to educate you as much as possible during your mommy makeover consultation.

Vectra 3D Photography

Dr. Benchetrit is one of the very few surgeons in Canada to own the Vectra 3D photography system. This revolutionary device can take 3D photos of the breasts, abdomen, flanks, etc. and simulate the results of the planned surgery on a computer screen. If breast implants are to be part of the procedure, different sized and shaped implants can be “placed” on the patient’s breasts to help her decide which type give her the look she desires. This makes it easier for the patient to make her decision and, by giving a “preview” of the final result, takes much of the worry out of the process.

Surgical Techniques

Most of Dr. Benchetrit’s mommy makeover cases can include:

Depending on your particular treatment plan, Dr. Benchetrit may perform all of your procedures on the same day, or he may recommend staging them one after the other. In the latter scenario, the surgeries can be as little as two months apart. Combining procedures requires a longer recovery instead of two shorter recovery periods and increases surgical risks to some degree.  However, for most healthy patients, the risks are still minimal and the advantages of combining the surgery are multiple; cost-effectiveness, less overall time away from work/activities, and final results achieved more quickly. There is also a synergistic effect (i.e., making the abdomen appear flatter enhances the appearance of the breasts).

Dr. Benchetrit focuses on using techniques to minimize any possible scarring. He is very careful and deliberate when placing the surgical incisions, and can also recommend a specific protocol of scar-minimizing products (e.g., ointments and dressings).

Day of Surgery

A mommy makeover is generally performed as an outpatient procedure. On the day of your mommy makeover, you will arrive at the hospital and be greeted by experienced medical personnel who will put you at ease while preparing you for surgery. The anesthetist will then put you under general anesthesia so that nothing is felt during the procedure. The duration of surgery depends on the number and types of procedures performed. Elastic compression garments will then be placed on your breasts and abdomen to minimize swelling. After your surgery, you will relax in a recovery room. You should arrange for a caretaker to drive you home the day after surgery and stay with you for several days as you recover from your mommy makeover.

Recovering from Surgery

As you recover from your mommy makeover, you will feel some tightness and possibly some discomfort, which can be alleviated with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Benchetrit. You will need to wear a compression garment for about three weeks as your skin conforms to its new curves. Our team recommends that you get as much rest as possible in the first few days of your recovery, and avoid any bending, lifting or straining. You will not be able to lift anything heavy, including your children, during the initial recovery period, so you will need to find someone to help you with childcare and other household responsibilities. You will return to our office for several follow-up visits during which Dr. Benchetrit will check your healing progress. He can answer any questions that you have about the recovery process and clear you to return to work, exercise and your normal routine.

Mommy makeover recovery varies by patient, but typically takes between four and eight weeks.
